Hilda Halabu, Ph.D.

Hilda Halabu is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Michigan.  Dr. Halabu was a postdoctoral fellow for two years at both The University Center for the Child and Family and in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan before joining as an affiliate at the Ann Arbor Center for the Family in 2008.

Dr. Halabu has a general practice that includes therapy with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her theoretical orientation is integrative, including family systems, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic therapies.  She utilizes various treatment approaches depending on the particular needs of each client or family.

Dr. Halabu’s special interests include, but are not limited to, adjustment to divorce, loss and bereavement, as well as domestic violence and other traumatic experiences.

Her clinical experience in these areas of interest include facilitating bereavement groups for children at Arbor Hospice and bereavement groups for adults at Ele’s Place, crisis counseling at Ozone House for runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth, and leading the Kids’ Club intervention groups for children exposed to domestic violence.  Dr. Halabu has also published in the area of domestic violence and served as a member of the Board of Directors at Safe House Center in Ann Arbor from 2003 to 2006.

Dr. Halabu participates with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, BCBS PPO, Blue Care Network (University of Michigan Premier Care) and can submit to other insurances  as an out-of-network provider.
