Douglas Ensor, Ph.D.
Douglas Ensor is a licensed psychologist who received his doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1982. He has been in practice at Ann Arbor Center for the Family since 1979. He now is Emeritus and continues to work with his current clients. He is not taking new clients or referrals.
At the Center, Dr. Ensor’s practice includes working with individual adults, children over the age of four, and families. He has extensive experience in family therapy (including families experiencing complicated divorces), cognitive behavioral therapy, and other approaches.
Dr. Ensor has a special interest in children and families dealing with chronic medical, developmental, or learning disorders. He enjoys working with adolescents and college students, and frequently does so with students for whom the transition to college life is complicated by previously identified physical or developmental concerns (such as autism spectrum disorders). He also enjoys working with individuals and families of the LGBT community.
Dr. Ensor approaches the treatment of all clients, and especially of children, in relationship to the contexts in which those clients live: family, school, and community. He believes that one must pay attention not only to the individuals who are having difficulty, but also to the responding settings in which they live and grow. He finds this approach valuable not only in identifying appropriate treatment methods to address the current situation, but also in optimizing available resources (in complex systems that can become overwhelming at times) that will support continued health and coping after treatment ends.
Dr. Ensor participates with BCBS PPO, BCBS Traditional, Medicare, and MESSA.
