Bassem Krayem, MD
Dr. Krayem treats children, adolescents and adults (up to age 65).
Dr. Krayem is a dual board certified physician in Adult as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He completed his Adult Psychiatry residency training at New York Medical College-MHC in Manhattan, New York. In addition, he pursued his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He received several awards for excellence in clinical care for patients and their families as well as in research and scholarly activities. Before joining Ann Arbor Center for the Family as an affiliate, he worked at Henry Ford Health System as a Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist and was the Associate Training Director of the psychiatry residency program and Clinical Assistant Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine where he taught, supervised and trained residents and medical students. Dr. Krayem continues to be a Clinical Assistant Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine and is currently affiliated with St. Joseph Mercy of Ann Arbor Hospital.
Dr. Krayem has several publications in Child Psychiatry as well as Adult Psychiatry and psychopharmacology. He is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA), fellow of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP), member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and Psychopharmacology institute (PI).
Dr. Krayem’s philosophy of care is meeting patients where they are in their stage of life to help them achieve the best quality of life possible through evidence-based medical approach using medications and psychotherapy and involve their families as well as significant others in their care while collaborating with their therapists and other doctors involved in their care. Dr. Krayem treats his patients using a biological, psychological and social approach to formulate an individualized treatment plan tailored towards each individual patient and provides comprehensive education to his patients about their illness, medications side effects and risk factors for decompensation to help them make the best decision about their care. Dr. Krayem also implements exercise, nutrition, light therapy, mindfulness and sleep hygiene modalities to help patients improve their quality of life and reach their goals. Dr. Krayem has vast experience in treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders ranging from mild to severe, chronic conditions. In addition, he has particular interest in depression, bipolar, anxiety, ADHD and psychotic disorders.
Dr. Krayem currently participates with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance only but many patients can be reimbursed from their insurance for a portion of the cost when they see Dr. Krayem on an out-of-network basis.
