Spirituality In Everyday Life

A group of professionals at Ann Arbor Center for the Family is offering services based on a holistic approach to the change process. This approach recognizes the connection between body, mind, health, and spiritual well-being and growth. It is grounded in the belief that meaning and spirituality are natural and essential pieces of all aspects of our everyday lives. The stressors of modern day life have left many searching for meaning, values, purpose and, most of all, a deeper connection to self, others, and larger communities. In a sense, emotional, relationship, and health problems and concerns can be an expression of a dis-ease of spirit and meaning.

We offer an approach to change that emphasizes spirituality, meaning, and values as major resources for understanding and resolving problems and for personal growth. Our spiritually oriented process is not tied to any formal religion, doctrine or dogma. We are respectful of individuals' cultural and religious contexts. We believe that our service will benefit those who:
  • Face mid and later life transitions
  • Are dealing with disruptive events such as relocation and educational and job changes
  • Need to heal the adverse effects of loss, betrayal, and trauma
  • Want to explore the emotional and spiritual aspects of health problems and concerns
  • Seek to increase spirituality, creativity and mindfulness in their individual lives, relationships, work and other aspects of daily life
Our approach actively encourages and nurtures collaboration with a network of spiritual and health care providers who also embrace a holistic orientation. We are developing a consortium of such resources for referrals and consultation. Ours is a collaborative process that emphasizes dialogue, guided conversations, reflection, and action. Creative exploration is encouraged through writing, journaling, meditation, visualization, relaxation, and movement. This service is available for individuals, families, couples, groups, and larger organizations and may include educational and training programs.
