Divorce Mediation: A Sensible Alternative
A free informational workshop
(Presented by Washtenaw County Mediators)

At this time, no future workshops have been scheduled
For more information on Divorce Mediation,
feel free to contact any of the mediators listed at the bottom of this page.

You will learn about:
  • The steps in the divorce process -- what are your choices?
The cheapest way to get through a divorce is to negotiate yourselves.
  • What is divorce mediation? How does it differ from an adversarial process?
Learn how mediation can help keep you in charge of your own decisions.
  • What is the role of your attorney when you mediate?
Attorneys act as your advisors and inform you of your rights.
  • How can you be helpful to your children and protect them during separation and beyond?
We know that children do better when parents can cooperate and keep their hostility away from their children.
  • How mediation can help you understand your financial information, helping you to make informed decisions about property and support.
When you make decisions jointly, you can implement them when ready.
  • What you can do to promote cooperation.
Learn to present your needs - not your positions. Learn to avoid escalating arguments.
  • How mediation can be helpful in handling post-judgment disputes constructively.
Sometimes parents get stuck - a facilitator can help them move forward constructively.
Mediators will be available so that you can ask questions privately about your personal family situation.

The workshop will be held at the Ann Arbor Center for the Family, 2300 Washtenaw, Ann Arbor. Please let us know if you are planning to attend by calling the Center at (734) 995-5181. Feel free to contact any of the presenters by phone or e-mail to ask questions or to obtain more information.
