  • psychotherapy with individuals, couples, families, and groups

  • psychiatric evaluation and medication management

  • divorce mediation (a sensible alternative)

  • education and training

  • assessment of children, adolescents, adults, and families

  • consultation with businesses, schools, and other organizations

Our History

Founded in 1976, Ann Arbor Center for the Family began as a setting in which to explore and develop new models of family therapy. Continuing in that tradition, Center - affiliated profesionals integrate new and traditional approaches to treating and assessing adults, children, adoplescents, and families.

Our Philosophy

Our name includes "family" because of our origins as a family therapy center and because of our commitment to understanding individuals and families in the diverse contexts in which they live. "Family" includes adoptive and other non-biological families, committed couples, divorced and remarried families, single-parent families, two-parent families, and extended families.

People, problems, and solutions are located in the context of multiple factors: family, friendship, work and school, gender, race and ethnicity, biology and genetics, sexual orientation, and religious or spiritual identification. Assessment and therapy are most useful when they attend to the fullness of people's lives and consider the present and future as well as the past.

What You Can Expect at the Center

  • collaboration between therapist and client
